Matt is a clinician as well as a trainer.  His clinics involve teaching an equal balance of trust and respect and establishing a confident leadership role with your horse.  He has taught clinics both in his home state here in Montana and other states as well.  Matt has a true gift of reading horses.  He has a way of getting into their minds and understanding their body language that enables him to produce incredible progress in a very short time.  His work is driven not only by the challenge that each horse brings to him, but by others’ passions to learn from his techniques and training as well.

Matt currently runs a Storefront for the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program.  He has aided in providing homes for hundreds of wild mustangs and burros.  He has also worked alongside the BLM in training other TIP trainers and adopters on the gentling and starting process of these wild mustangs and burros.

The one-day Problem Solving Clinic will give participants one-on-one time with Matt to address any specific problems they would like to work on with their horse, and watch and learn from him working with the other participants and their horses. Limited to 8 spots.

The two-day Trust and Respect Clinic will consist of a day of groundwork where Matt will guide participants and their horses through several trust and respect building exercises, and will work with each horse individually to identify areas in need of improvement. The second day will build on the groundwork exercises and will include mounted, confidence building exercises.

Cody Deering Horsemanship Clinics

Two 1-Day Clinics: Thursday, May 19th and Friday, May 20th

California Style Horsemanship and Stock Handing

This horsemanship clinic will focus on doing less to get more, the timing and placement of the feet through body posture, rein handling, intention, and how these things affect the horse and rider. The class will emphasize rein refinement and how to obtain lightness through a reduction of the aids. Students will also learn how the applied methods relate to working cattle and how riders can use methods for any other discipline that they want to do with their horse. Cody will cover traditional methods with traditional equipment, although it is unnecessary for everyone to ride in a Hackamore or Bridle bit. Snaffle bits are welcome (or bring what you ride them in with an opportunity to try out other gear.) This class is for everyone, and each person will be helped with their unique level of understanding. Cody is known for ensuring people get individual attention suited to fit their own needs.

Gates open at 8, clinic is from 9am to 4pm. Trailer-in fee is included in price.

Pat Puckett

Saturday, March 5th at Rayo Ranch

9:00am - 4:00pm

This is Horsemanship through the eyes of a cowboy and Bridle Horse Man. Or simply Good Horsemanship.

Pat Puckett has spent the last 50 years refining his relationship with horses. As a cowboy and rancher, horses have been more than just a means of transportation. They've been partners.

Over the course of his lifetime, Pat has had the privilege to ride with some of the best reinsmen and cowboys in the West. Early on, he developed a passion for the Californio Bridle Horse, the highest compliment you can pay to a horse. The classical origins of this heritage have given Pat a unique viewpoint and the ability to communicate effectively with horses and riders of all disciplines.

Pat has a no-nonsense style of teaching. When you become one of Pat's students, you can be assured that he will try his best to teach you everything he knows. No holding back. His lessons and clinics have been described as "getting a drink from a fire hose!" So, come prepared to get more done than you thought possible. It is his hope that everybody goes home with a sense that their time and money have been well spent.

**Clinic spots are sold out.**

Auditors are welcome! $50 per person, please bring cash or check made out to Wild Heart Restart Ranch on the day of the clinic. Auditors will be asked to fill out some paperwork at the registration table upon arrival. Registration opens at 8:00am, clinic starts at 9:00am. Auditors should bring a chair, any food or drink you will want for the day, and dress in layers. Rayo Ranch is located at 1080 Helman Lane, Cotati, CA.

Matt Bischof has been a horseman since he was a child.  It all started with acting out backyard western scenes with his brothers and sister on horseback.  It then transferred into learning a more disciplined style of riding with Hunter Jumper, Western Pleasure, and Eventing in his teens.  Matt is a passionate outdoorsman who loves to hunt, pack and ride.  As an adult, he started training mules and horses for his pack string.  All of his stock were trained not only to pack, but to ride as well.  He believed it was important that they be versatile and ready for anything.

Matt currently runs a Storefront for the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program.  Last year, he aided in providing homes for 74 wild mustangs and burros.  He has also worked alongside the BLM in training other TIP trainers and adopters on the gentling and starting process of these wild mustangs and burros.

2021 Mustang Showcase Summer Series

June 19th, July 10th, August 14th

Rayo Ranch, Cotati, CA

The purpose of the Northern California Mustang Showcase is to promote the American Mustang and everything they are capable of in the domesticated world. It is also to raise awareness of the many challenges that they face in the modern world, and their desperate need for as many human advocates as possible.

Wild Heart Restart Ranch welcomes Sam VanFleet

Friday, July 9th, 2021

Sam VanFleet works mainly with young horses especially Mustangs, PMU foals, and warmbloods. From gentling them to be quiet and soft, to their first ride undersaddle, and beyond. The hope is to give young horses a quiet calm start, be a great mustang ambassador, and educate people about PMU foals not only by speaking about them, but performing and showing what great hearts they have. By finding forever homes for these horses, more mustangs can get out of holding or more foals can be saved from having a horrible or short life ahead of them.

Sam will be hosting a morning clinic and an afternoon clinic, and will also be offering three one-hour private lessons after the clinics. Auditor tickets are also available.

***** Sam will also be one of the judges at the Mustang Showcase the next day, Saturday, July 10th! *****
